The Temple of Understanding promotes the human right to water through collaborative efforts at the UN. We are a member of the Mining Working Group, and through them we work with the Blue Planet Project that advocates around the globe for water rights.
The Blue Planet Project promotes “blue communities” that adopt
a water commons framework that treats water as belonging to no one and the responsibility of all. Because water is essential for human life, it must be governed by principles that allow for reasonable use, equal distribution and responsible treatment in order to preserve water for nature and future generations.
Our representative to the United Nations, Grove Harris, drafted and delivered statements during the development of the Sustainable Development Goals as part of the struggle to protect this human right.
