Reverend Suzan Johnson Cook, the first African-American woman to serve as Senior Pastor in an American Baptist Church, founded the Believers Christian Fellowship in the Bronx in 1996, which quickly became one of the fastest-growing congregations in New York City. She holds advanced degrees in speech and communications and served on Bill Clinton’s Presidential Initiative on Race and in other advisory capacities.
