Glenys D’Souza
Hi! My name is Glenys D’Souza. I am eighteen years old, and I am from India. I wanted to utilize my long summer break by investing my time researching and learning more about the world of diplomacy.
The Temple of Understanding Summer Internship Program is the perfect opportunity as I get to attend United Nations Committees, understand the workings of an international NGO, and complete research on the topic of my choice- Child Advocacy and the implementation of Education. As a volunteer at a Child Rights NGO, I taught English to children from a slum and had a deeper understanding of the need for improvements in educational patterns – to encourage learning in regional languages and inculcation of foreign languages as a subject and to educate on the importance of health education and regulation of child labor, especially in urban settings. As a current literature student, I study stories from different oceans, written by people who lived ages apart and yet all I find is the similarity in the human emotions and the human conflicts that separate humankind yet bind us together at the same time. I strongly believe in the words of Frederick Douglass, ‘It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.’ I seek to understand the various international measures that help alleviate social evils for creating a better world for future generations.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
