Honoring President Jimmy Carter

Jan 7, 2025 | Peacemaking, What's New, Women's Initiatives

In honor of former President Jimmy Carter’s passing on December 29, 2024, the Empire State Building was lit up in red, white, and blue.

Beginning this afternoon, January 7, 2025, Carter will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda until Thursday, and members of the public can pay their respects. His funeral service on Thursday will be held at the National Cathedral before his remains are flown back to Georgia. There will be a final private service in Plains, and Carter will be buried next to his wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, at his family’s peanut farm.

The Temple of Understanding again lifts up his strong stance for the equality of men and women and his calling out those who abuse their religions to keep women down to the detriment of all.

Please enjoy reading his words in Losing My Religion for Equality as we honor his truth-telling.
