Meet our 2021 TOU interns! We are very pleased to welcome interns from around the world virtually this summer! During our first week, the TOU interns have been engaged in exploring the work of the Temple of Understanding and learning more about the United Nations as they begin to think about the topics they will be researching throughout the program. We are looking forward to participating in HLPF, hearing from speakers on numerous topics, experiencing religious site visits, and more over the next few weeks!
Faizah Naqvi, USA
Hello! My name is Faizah Naqvi, and I am a rising senior at the Wardlaw-Hartridge School. I was born and raised in New Jersey, but my Pakistani heritage and Muslim religion have inspired me to pursue my interests in languages, human rights, and international relations. I was awarded the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) Virtual Summer Intensive scholarship for both Arabic and Chinese, growing conversational in both languages. Last fall, I participated in the Stanford China Scholars program, researching the technological suppression of Xinjiang Uyghurs and presenting to my entire upper school, despite vitriolic opinions. At the Temple of Understanding, I hope to pursue my interests of interfaith education and the human rights crisis of the Uyghur genocide, developing my global perspective and learning from fellow interns.
