Meet our 2021 TOU interns! We are very pleased to welcome interns from around the world virtually this summer! During our first week, the TOU interns have been engaged in exploring the work of the Temple of Understanding and learning more about the United Nations as they begin to think about the topics they will be researching throughout the program. We are looking forward to participating in HLPF, hearing from speakers on numerous topics, experiencing religious site visits, and more over the next few weeks!
Elizabeth Simms, Canada
My name is Elizabeth Simms, and I am a junior at the University of Toronto. I am majoring in History with a double minor in Material Culture Studies and Bioethics. I have been interested in international affairs since I joined the Model UN club in middle school. From there I graduated into hosting Model UN conferences, and now I am pursuing a career in international affairs! I am currently in the Model UN club at my university as well as interning with the World Affairs Council of Connecticut to help to host their annual international Model UN Conference. My favorite part of the UN is the International Court of Justice. I have always been interested in the process by which law and precedent is created, and through the ICJ I get to see that occurring on the global stage. My favorite thing to do in my free time outside of the realm of global affairs is to watch old movies (I particularly love Cary Grant).
