Meet our 2021 TOU interns! We are very pleased to welcome interns from around the world virtually this summer! During our first week, the TOU interns have been engaged in exploring the work of the Temple of Understanding and learning more about the United Nations as they begin to think about the topics they will be researching throughout the program. We are looking forward to participating in HLPF, hearing from speakers on numerous topics, experiencing religious site visits, and more over the next few weeks!

Cindy Peng, USA

Hi! My name is Cindy Peng. I am a rising sophomore at Wellesley College intending to major in International Relations with a concentration in political science and Middle Eastern Studies. Coming from a multicultural background, I have been living, visiting, and studying in various countries and working on different transnational challenges, from gender and youth empowerment to refugee resettlement and social adaptation, and from cultural heritage reservation to minority equality; these experiences render me not only to interact with notions, systems, and perspectives, but also, notice the similarities yet differentiations among people and the significance of bridging communication, minimizing misunderstandings, and prompting collaborations and efficient mechanisms. I am passionate about a large variety of topics including human rights, policymaking, migration, the rise of extremism, public health and eco-justice, international security, as well as ethnic, religious and regional conflicts, which I am looking forward to exploring further during the internship.
