Meet our 2021 TOU interns! We are very pleased to welcome interns from around the world virtually this summer! During our first week, the TOU interns have been engaged in exploring the work of the Temple of Understanding and learning more about the United Nations as they begin to think about the topics they will be researching throughout the program. We are looking forward to participating in HLPF, hearing from speakers on numerous topics, experiencing religious site visits, and more over the next few weeks!
Lucy Smith, USA
Hi. My name is Lucy Smith. I am nineteen years old and from New York City. I am currently a rising sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania and planning on studying International Relations and Economics. Much of my high school and college career thus far has centered around my passion for sustainability and combating climate change. In high school, I served as President of the Environmental Club and completed an internship at the Climate Museum. At Penn, I serve as VP of Wharton Undergraduate Energy Group, which explores renewable energy at the intersection of policy, business, and technology in an attempt to implement sustainability in the financial world. I hope to further this passion through research focusing on ecological justice, engagement at meetings and with individuals at the UN, and collaboration with my peers and supervisors at TOU. Above all, I am excited to gain experience and knowledge in the environment in which I one day hope to work, and continue my quest for global sustainability.
