Meet our 2021 TOU interns! We are very pleased to welcome interns from around the world virtually this summer! During our first week, the TOU interns have been engaged in exploring the work of the Temple of Understanding and learning more about the United Nations as they begin to think about the topics they will be researching throughout the program. We are looking forward to participating in HLPF, hearing from speakers on numerous topics, experiencing religious site visits, and more over the next few weeks!
Josefina Rodriguez Zuloaga, Colombia
Hello! My name is Josefina Rodriguez Zuloaga. I am 21 years old and study ecology, and I will be starting my fourth year in college at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. Even though they are not directly seen in my academic field, I think international relations are very important for ecology and I believe sustainable development and environmental conservation can be achieved through the cooperation of different countries and organizations. I believe that a close relation between women’s rights and sustainable development should be further studied to make policies that can tackle both issues at once. Being from Colombia I have been able to see and experience many different cultures and ecosystems that clearly demonstrate close relationships between human culture and their interactions with nature. I want to dive into these cultures and analyze their relations with nature closer in order to channel these into potential solutions to human-environmental conflicts seen today. I hope to learn about this and a lot more this summer with TOU and the UN.
