Meet our 2021 TOU interns! We are very pleased to welcome interns from around the world virtually this summer! During our first week, the TOU interns have been engaged in exploring the work of the Temple of Understanding and learning more about the United Nations as they begin to think about the topics they will be researching throughout the program. We are looking forward to participating in HLPF, hearing from speakers on numerous topics, experiencing religious site visits, and more over the next few weeks!
Claire Qian, USA
Hi! My name is Claire Qian, and I am 19 years old from Lexington, Kentucky. Currently, I am a rising sophomore at Fordham University studying Political Science, Economics, and Humanitarian Studies. My passion for international policy and human rights began in middle school when I wrote a resolution to reduce government corruption in Tunisia for my state’s model UN conference. Since then, I have furthered my passion for human rights through an internship with the NYS Division of Human Rights and serving as the Co-Director of Civil Rights Policy of a Youth think tank. These experiences have made me realize the importance of recognizing the intersectionality of issues which I hope to further examine during my time at TOU. I am particularly interested in exploring the intersectional nature of peacekeeping, ecological justice, and women’s initiatives. I look forward to working with and learning from my fellow interns this summer!
