Polina Galieva

Hi! My name is Polina Galieva. I am 18 years old and a rising freshman at Southern Methodist University. My family is originally from Russia, but I grew up in New York and have spent the past several years living in the UK.

My international background has allowed me to view social and political issues from a variety of vastly different perspectives, which has contributed to my interest in global politics. I am excited to be part of the UN’s diverse environment, where I can learn from people of different backgrounds and encourage mutual understanding. While interning with the Temple of Understanding at the UN, I hope to learn about the aspects that make each country and culture unique, but also about how they are able to overcome these differences in order to find mutually beneficial solutions. I am especially interested in exploring the UN’s peacekeeping mission. I hope to learn more about its role in modern-day conflicts, as well as how it adapts to the ever-changing social, economic, and political climates of each individual country. I am particularly interested in exploring the impact of countries’ political climates on their overall stability and potential for conflict resolution, as well as the impact that the UN can have on these factors.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
