Sarah Ahmad

My name is Sarah Ahmad. I am 18 years old, and I am from Schaumburg, Illinois. I will be a freshman this fall at New York University’s College of Arts and Science, majoring in public policy and international relations.

I have always been interested in exploring different languages and cultures and that interest soon manifested into a desire to learn about the world today and how to resolve issues people face all over the world each day. I have been very politically involved and have leadership experience in organizing a gubernatorial campaign, among other campaigns. During my time campaigning, I talked directly to people while I was canvassing or phone banking, and I began to understand many of the ongoing issues of our country. I wanted to help everyone by finding a way to resolve their issues. This experience, along with my personal experiences of my Pakistani culture and identity, inspired me to pursue a career in international relations and to take part in organizations such as the Temple of Understanding. Through this internship, I hope to research the effect of colonization on the political and religious conflict between the bordering nations of Pakistan and India and occupation of the disputed territory of Jammu Kashmir.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
